Samsung to bring a new feature in Gallery, possibly with One UI 8.5

Samsung Gallery App

Samsung is developing a new feature for the Gallery app. The upcoming new function will allow users to change the representative photo of the face in the Samsung Gallery app.

While giving the reply to a Samsung fan on the community, the Samsung moderator said, “The function to change the representative photo of the face is being prepared internally and is being reviewed so that you can use it as soon as possible.”

That means the feature is developed, and now it is being tested internally, so this feature is likely to come with the One UI 8.5. However, the company may also provide the feature with its future Gallery app updates.

One UI 8.5 is expected to come with Samsung’s next S series flagship, the Galaxy S26 series, next year. So if the feature will come with the 8.5, you have to wait too long yet to experience it, and that’s why it is possible that it could arrive early with an app software update.

Lastly, the stable update rollout of One UI 8 has not started yet, which is expected to be available in September, the month in which Samsung’s flagship device will get this update first.
