Microsoft has officially announced Windows 10 support ends today, October 14. Now the Windows 11 predecessor is no longer available for software, security, or any type of support from the developer, Microsoft.

However, users can still get one more year of security support only with the Consumer Extended Security Updates program. This program will only provide security support till October 13, 2026, for Windows 10.

How much does Windows 10 ESU cost?

You can enroll in ESU in one of the following three ways:

  • At no additional cost if you are syncing your PC settings.
  • Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
  • One-time purchase of $30 USD or local currency equivalent plus applicable tax.

Moreover, if you don’t want to enroll in the ESU program and want to keep the system data secure from external threats, you must install the latest Windows 11 on your PC. To install the Windows 11 update, navigate to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates.

If your PC does not match the minimum system requirements for Windows 11, you have to upgrade your system to install the latest Windows if you don’t want to enroll in the ESU program.
