Android 16 based One UI 8 finally reached the Galaxy S21 FE

Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE is the only device from the S21 series that was eligible for the One UI 8, and now it’s started getting it. The One UI 8 is the last OS upgrade for the Galaxy S21 FE; following this major upgrade, the device will be only eligible for security maintenance software support till 2027.

In the first wave the update is released for two Asian countries, Thailand and Vietnam. Users reported the brand new OTA upgrade started distributing yesterday.

It is rolling out with One UI build version G990EXXUIHYJ2, which also includes the September 2025 Android security patches. The update comes in a software package size of 2.24 GB. Both counties’ users can manually check the update by navigating to System Settings » Software Update Option » Download and Install.

One UI 8 is packed with many enjoyable features for the Galaxy S21 FE, including the Adaptive Lock Screen clock, Enhanced split screen view, Google Finance on the Now Bar, and many more. The update offers lots of significant improvements and enhanced security and privacy.

The Galaxy S21 FE was announced with Android 12-based One UI 4 and 4 years of OS upgrades. After the Android 16-based One UI 8, the device will not get any major upgrade. But the device is still in the monthly security updates and reving regulerly sucirity and maintenancereceiving regular security updates.
