Galaxy S26 gets AirDrop support with the new software update

Galaxy S26

Early today Samsung announced the AirDrop support for its Galaxy devices. As per the official Samsung newsroom post, the support will be added to Quick Share with Galaxy S26 series devices first.

Further, just after the announcement, the brand starts rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S26 series in South Korea. The update adds AirDrop support via Quick Share to these latest flagships.

The OTA update can be identified with new build version S94*NKSU1AZCF. It comes in a file size of 900 MB. As of now it is spotted in South Korea, which will be available in Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan as well in the coming days.

However, this around 900 MB software lacks March 2026 security patches. This is the second firmware update for the Galaxy S26 since launch.

Notably, the feature also requires Google Play Services version 26.11 or later and Quick Share version 13.8.51.30 to work. Users make sure their device is updated to these versions after the new software update.

This new feature allows Samsung users to share files with Apple devices directly without the third-party applications. Samsung’s move will ensure easy sharing with iPhones, iPads and other Apple devices. Samsung also confirmed that the AirDrop feature will also be available on more Galaxy devices in the coming weeks with the One UI 8.5 update.
