Samsung starts One UI 9 testing on the Galaxy S26 series

One UI 9

Samsung has started internal testing of Android 17-based One UI 9 software on Galaxy S26 units. A new testing firmware has been spotted on Samsung servers via CheckFirm, suggesting the brand has started developing the One UI 9 beta for the latest flagships.

The One UI 9 internal beta firmware is seen with the build version S948BXXU1BZC5 built on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This is a One UI major upgrade testing build number, and the next major upgrade of the Samsung Galaxy devices is Android 17-based One UI 9.

However, the Korean tech giant still has a lot of work to do, as the brand has yet to release the stable One UI 8.5 to older Galaxy models. Even last year’s Galaxy S25 series devices have not received the stable version of One UI 8.5.

Where the Galaxy S26 series is launched with the One UI 8.5, the Korean tech giant is expected to launch the stable One UI 9 with the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 this year.

As always, users are waiting curiously to see the new changes and features of the Samsung upcoming OS upgrade. More than 30 older Galaxy devices are eligible for the One UI 9 upgrade. Sadly some older flagship devices will not be eligible for One UI 9 following One UI 8.5.
