Samsung announced its new M series starting midrange smartphone, the Galaxy M17 5G, in Asian markets yesterday. In India the Galaxy M17 5G goes on sale today, while the A17 5G has already been available to buy, as it was released two months ago.
Disappointedly Both devices come with Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box, while One UI 8, based on Android 16, has already been rolling out for older Galaxy devices.
But the good thing is that both are coming with leading software update support. Samsung is committed to offering 6 OS upgrades for the Galaxy A17 and the Galaxy M17. These smartphones are also eligible for 6 years of security software support.

The devices will get OS updates up to Android 21 and security updates till 2031. Samsung provides one of the best software experiences in smartphones.
Apart from the software, both devices come with similar designs and specifications. The Galaxy A17 and M17 are powered with Samsung’s manufactured Exynos 1330 chipset. They come with a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP main sensor with OIS. On the form side, both have a 13MP selfie shooter.
5000 mAh battery support with 25W charging speed is decent for starting midrange smartphones. Both have a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display to offer the best display experience in that price segment.
