Samsung pushed a feature-packed new major upgrade, the One UI 8, for the Galaxy A16 and A53. Both devices received the update in their home counties and Europe last week; now it is available in the US too.
At the time of publication, the brand-new upgrade is spotted on Verizon-locked units of the Galaxy A16 and A53. Other network carriers and unlocked units may get the update in a few days.
The affordable A series smartphones, Galaxy A16 owners can recognize the update with build version A166USQU3CYIC. On the flip side, the midrange Galaxy A53 is receiving the One UI 8 with build number A536VSQUIGYJ2.
Although this upgrade brings many features to both devices, let us highlight some common features that both devices receive. Adaptive lock screen is the same feature that is available for both smartphone models. Both are getting new wallpaper recommendation features and new Gemini Camera and screen sharing.
Whereas the A16 gets September 2025 Android security patches, the A53 received the latest October 2025 patches along with the upgrade. These security patches carry fixes for several vulnerabilities.
